Si EL PEQUEÑO LORD (1885-6) ha tenido muchas versiones, LA PRINCESITA (1905), con menos bombo y platillo, llegó a ser más famosa en una sola de sus adaptaciones, la protagonizada por Shirley Temple en 1939 (uno de los primeros trabajos de Walter Lang -1896-1972-); ¿por qué?, por lo que representó esta cría en los años 30 para la industria norteamericana cinematográfica, nos guste o no semejante estereotipo infantil, lo que cuenta mucho mejor Diego en Artistas y Guerreras (un blog que me recomendó Manolito y está de muerte).
Aparte, en 1989 se estrenó a modo de miniserie, una versión inglesa retransmitida en nuestro país por TVE 1 y protagonizada por Amelia Shankley, una casi-desconocida mundial que hizo LA NIÑA DE LOS SUEÑOS en 1985, una película que homenajea a otro autor clásico que algún día, desde aquí, yo también atenderé, Lewis Carroll (1832-1898), y atenderé con lupa (lo juro), así como MIEDO PUNTO COM (2002), un producto de terror que toda persona en FilmAffinity tacha de mierda, ¡vamos, que no sé yo si echarle un vistazo para rellenar en El Baño de esta casa!
Finalmente, en 1995 se realizó otra versión de la que se dice se tomó demasiadas libertades en los cambios argumentales al transportar la escena a una época posterior y al borrar de un plumazo el hecho de estar en guerra (lo que ahondaba en el dramatismo del film de Lang, dado que existía una fuerza mayor para que ese padre no hubiese vuelto a buscar a su hija), lo que hizo que la crítica más purista la pusiera del color de las lechugas… que digo yo, ¿no será para tanto?, más que nada porque a la otra parte de esa crítica le encantó.
Vale, mi entrada es poco amena a no ser que alguien lo flipe con LA PEQUEÑA PRINCESA, con la Temple o con mi mala baba, pero de verdad, todo tiene razón de ser: era necesario todo este follón en el que he relacionado a Donald con el joven lord (en mi primera entrega de F. Hodgson Burnett) y a éste con la princesita, sólo por una razón, DONALD, EL CAZA-AUTÓGRAFOS (reseñado en su página por Víctor Garrido).
